Looking for something new and different? Come enjoy the relaxed and serene atmosphere of Thymes Past - A Bistro & Wine Bar, located in the historic Krug House, 2223 State Street, Alton, Illinois. Only 20 minutes from St. Louis and only 1.9 miles north of the intersection of Broadway and State Street in downtown Alton. Before or after cruising the “Great River Road”, take an adventurous “detour” up through the historic Christian Hill neighborhood and on to a refreshing and relaxing time at Thymes Past. The Bistro is located in a two-story brick home built in 1862 known as the “Krug” House and sits on approximately 9 acres. Lunch, dinner, appetizers, drinks and desserts are offered in the two main floor dining rooms, in the first floor bar and, weather permitting, on the front porch or on one of three decks overlooking the back wooded area. A second floor dining room, conference room and lounge are available for private functions. Whether you’re looking for a place to dine; a quiet retreat to savor a cocktail or a glass of wine; a comfortable and private setting for that important business meeting; or a unique setting for a private party or special celebration, the Bistro is available for all of your entertaining needs.

The kitchen is open and we welcome you to come and say “Hi”. Meals are prepared with the finest of ingredients and with loving care by Chef/Owner, Linda K. Leckrone and Chefs Deborah Slinkard, Patricia Toussaint and Maria Pace.

One of the unique aspects of Thymes Past is that the entire facility can be reserved for private parties - and, often is. Therefore, we suggest that you call ahead, not necessarily for reservations, but to inquire as to whether or not the Bistro will be open to the public on the day of your planned visit.

Carry-out: Carry-out is available for Lunch and Dinner. Customers are encouraged to telephone early in the event the kitchen is busy with dining room orders. Hosting a Luncheon or Dinner and need a little help? Let the Bistro prepare the soup or salad. Order early for pickup or we can deliver and setup with a minimum order.

Dining at the Bistro: Another unique aspect of Thymes Past is the ability to offer such different atmospheres for your enjoyment. Indoor dining is offered in the two first floor dining rooms and limited seating is available in the bar area on the first level, as well. If you are looking for a private indoor area to share a cocktail or bottle of wine, the lounge on the second floor might be your choice. Dining outdoors is a popular choice during the spring, summer and fall months. And, yes, there are choices there too. If the sun is bright and you want to soak up some rays, then one of three deck areas might suit you. The decks also offer wildlife viewing during the evening hours - and if astrology is your thing, then the decks would most surely be your choice for later evening dining and/or drinking. If the clouds begin rolling in and you like to sit out and enjoy a good rain, then you might choose the front porch. The porch is open, covered and cozy. A great place for dessert, coffee and great conversation. If gardening is your thing, a glass of wine might be enjoyed at one of the picnic tables located in the side garden.

Illinois State Certified Non-Smoking Facility: Thymes Past is proud to offer a smoke-free environment. Smoking is acceptable on the front porch and on the deck areas where ashtrays are provided. During semi-chilly weather, you may find the deck firepit and fireplace have roaring fires for those who enjoy a cigar or cigarette after dinner.
